Scene Work (Advanced)
-
Participants extend foundational skills in self-observation, expressive movement & voice, and performance and begin exploring this within the framework of theatrical texts. The key focus is shifting from playing oneself to crafting evocative and imaginative characters while inhabiting the dramatised worlds of an author’s text. As with our Acting (Intermediate) series, each session begins with physical, image-based, polysensorial exercises from Nusantara Theatric’s unique methodology PRISM Work before moving into dedicated time to respond to, prepare, perform and receive feedback on a variety of scenes. It is encouraged that participants come in with a selection of scenes they would like to work on, which will be discussed as a group in the first session. This workshop series will involve an element of self-directed study and preparation between each session, aimed at deepening and consolidating the practical work during class. The workshop will culminate in a final performance-sharing of scenes.
